Green spirit comes alive at Parap
17 April 2009
Parap students will be able to enjoy a new green corner of their school with the opening of the Parap Primary School Harmony Garden this morning.
Parap Primary School principal Mike Myers said the Harmony Garden had turned a previously unused area of the school grounds into a peaceful corner for students to enjoy.
“It’s a celebration of the multicultural nature of our school community,” Mr Myers said.
“We’re delighted with the support of the Winston Group, the Multicultural Council of the Northern Territory, Tony Cox from Clouston Associates and Mark Junger Landscapes.”
The Winston Group, which is presently building the Arnhemica office complex at 16 Parap Road, provided $12,000 in funding towards the garden’s development.
The building will be the first Territory’s office complex designed to achieve a 5-Star NABERS energy rating, the highest “green” rating a building can achieve.
Winston Group representative Darryl Briskey said the Harmony Garden project was well aligned with the values of the Arnhemica development and the Winston Group.
“We are passionate about urban renewal, nurturing the community around us and providing spaces designed for people,” Mr Briskey said.
