Green office building opens for business
21 July 2009

One of the Territory’s first office buildings designed to achieve a 5-Star energy rating will be officially opened by the Chief Minister today.

The commercial office building, Arnhemica at 16 Parap Road, is the first Territory-based project by property developer Winston Group and IMA Limited.

Winston Group founder, Clinton Arentz said he was pleased with the quality of the finished product which had been specifically designed for the Top End’s environment and built by a local team lead by Clive Clements to incorporate sustainable values.

“The quality of Arnhemica speaks for itself, the workmanship in the design and construction of this building has been of the highest quality and I commend all of those involved for their professionalism and dedication to the job,” Mr Arentz said.

“I am equally delighted to be able to announce CouncilBIZ as the first tenant into the Arnhemica complex.”

CouncilBIZ, the local government service provider, has experienced substantial growth over the past twelve months and will accommodate permanent staff and a number of “hot-desks” for visiting shire staff and contractors on the upper level of the building.

CouncilBIZ General Manager Vicki Wright said that her team was excited to be moving into Arnhemica.

“This gives us a great opportunity to set up a flexible and modern work environment which we can share with our members from the Local Government super shires,” she said.

Arnhemica sets a new precedent in office developments in the Northern Territory and is part of an emerging trend in the redevelopment of the Parap precinct.

“Parap is set to bloom. There are some exciting development opportunities in the area which will inject a new vitality into the suburb and encourage investment in the Territory,” Mr Arentz said.

“We were attracted to the urban redevelopment opportunities of Parap. Our experience has shown that areas such as this enjoy a rich and diverse urban fabric.”

“We commend the Northern Territory Government’s initiatives in this precinct and look forward to an ongoing association with Parap.”
